Company profile
The Association of Dutch Property Developers - NEPROM - was founded in 1974. The 67 member companies are active in various areas of the property market - including office buildings, retail and housing - and have a variety of backgrounds. Some are independent development companies, others are related to construction companies or financial institutions, whilst a third group comprises pension funds or insurance companies which develop property as part of their investment strategy.
The main goal of the Association is to encourage cooperation between public authorities and project developers. The Netherlands has a long-standing history with regard to planning. National, regional and local governments have a strong say in property development, brought about by planning regulations and licensing.
The following figures indicate the members of NEPROM have a strong position within the Dutch property market. They are responsible for about 65% of new office buildings, 80% of new retail space and 50% of new housing in the private sector. Pension funds and insurance companies associated with NEPROM hold about 80% of the institutional property investment capital in the Netherlands.
To become a member of NEPROM, a company should have many years of experience in the property development business and must comply with strict financial, professional and moral standards. Owing to this market position and the high standards it sets, NEPROM has become a valued partner for the Dutch authorities.
